There once was a woman
Quite steeped in religion
Who called herself Flannery
and wrote more than a smidgen
Of stories that spoke of
Things just a tad meanish
Of salvation and preachers
and oddballs extremish
Of boys drowned in rivers
And a wooden-legged thinker
Of cold killer convicts
Who didn’t even blinker.
Though her characters always
Would come face to face
With Miss Flannery’s offer
To step into grace
They just didn’t do it
They weren’t that kind
A good man it seems
Is just too hard to find
